Kindle vs. iPad
I’ve owned an iPad since the day it was first released in April 2010. It’s great for almost everything it’s designed for - except reading.
I had high expectations for the iPad as an e-reader. I long resisted the urge to buy a Kindle or Nook, largely because I couldn’t justify the cost for a single-use device. I saw the iPad as the way to finally liberate myself from printed materials.
I was almost immediately disappointed with the iPad reading experience. Much has been said about its shortcomings. The fact it’s nearly useless outdoors in sunny, warm climates was the big downer. The best part about reading on an iPad is Instapaper.
Fast forward to now. I finally decided to take a chance and buy a Kindle (worst case I send it back). The price is right - it actually pays for itself after 15 or 20 books.
The result: After three weeks, the iPad has yet to leave my backpack while at home. The Kindle has completely replaced it as my primary reading device. I now look forward to kicking back outside, relaxing, and reading.
I originally thought the iPad would replace the Kindle and other e-ink readers. I’m wrong. They’re both great, complementary devices.

Welcome
I really like the way Tumblr handles content (including sharing), so I’m going to try using it to feed the front page of my personal site. I guess this means I’m going to try out blogging for the first time in about 10 years. Should be fun!
Let the games begin.
